4 things 2024 has retaught me..

Reflecting on 2024, here are 4 lessons I relearned.

God has to be first.
I know we all say this, but in 2024, this was THEE highlight for me. All of the opportunities, the declines, and the accelerations were because I applied this to my life (and I really meant it). I removed the things that I prioritized before God and surrendered. It was hard, and if I am being honest, it was scary at some points. BUT, throughout it all, God showed me that He has me and that I can trust in Him.
Don't laugh at others because it can happen to you.
You know how the elders in the community say, "Just keep living"? Well, I understand that now. Our lives are so intricate, and we do not know what situation we may find ourselves in. One day it can be going as planned, and another day, through no fault of your own, it can be chaos. So now I am more mindful of my reactions and responses to others' experiences because, honey, it may happen to you.
Social Media is influencing your lifestyle.
I'll admit that I used to not believe this until I spent some time uninfluencing myself from what I was consuming on my feed. I was on some side of TikTok that threw me into a rabbit hole, and I had to delete the app for months. I don't know how my feed went from art & lifestyle to the world is ending, but I didn't like it. Of course, I do not yet fully understand algorithms, but I caution you to be mindful of what you are engaging with on social media platforms.
Your fitness journey is lifelong.
I had to readjust my thinking around this concept in 2024. I reached a fitness goal earlier in the year, and gradually the desire to continue the routine diminished, and so did my results. I had placed so much importance on a small portion of my fitness journey that when I accomplished it, my motivation was low, and I felt no need to complete the maintenance part. Gratefully, I did not backtrack too far. I also learned that I value variety in my fitness routine. So as I now get back on track for 2025, I know to incorporate more of this in my routine to keep me committed and motivated.
Happy New Year!
